Jacinta "Jayadevi" Hollon is a certified instructor with multiple credentials in teaching yoga, Pilates, and various forms of dance. Experienced in guiding all levels from beginner to advanced, she specializes in therapeutic, restorative and accessible movement. Her gentle yet direct and effective method is drawn from over twenty years of working with the healing and transformative powers of integrative mind-body practices.
Coming from a diverse background in classical dance and contemporary expressive movement, Jayadevi discovered Yoga as a performing artist and dance teacher. When a series of repetitive injuries brought an abrupt end to her dance career, threatening her ability even to walk, Jayadevi understood that she needed to reframe her relationship with movement, and found through Yoga a more mindful and compassionate approach to realizing the body's full potential. While she enjoys teaching all levels, Jayadevi especially appreciates the opportunity to adapt practices to assist clients in recovery and rehabilitation after injury or surgery, and loves to work with beginners who think they "can't do yoga"...spoiler, they can!
Jayadevi's academic pursuits began in Asian Studies at New York University which then took her to Nanjing University. She was fortunate to have the opportunity to travel extensively in China, exploring Eastern philosophy, spiritual practices, and traditional medicine. In her travels, she learned Tai Chi and Qigong, which remain a strong influence in her personal practice, being deeply rooted in Taoist philosophy. After returning to the United States, Jayadevi continued her education studying Psychology and Human Development through the State University of New York, with special interest in alternative approaches to mental health.

Jacinta's spiritual name, Jayadevi, was a blessing from her teachers, meaning "Victorious Goddess". Following that sentiment, Jayavati Yoga reflects the Sanskrit name for a victorious being, one who is empowered to overcome challenges and embody success - the result of dedication, perseverance and consistency in practice.
In the spirit of maitrī (loving-kindness) Jayadevi draws on her diverse studies to offer services with a holistic approach to physical, mental, and spiritual wellness. Every class is a heartfelt offering that invites the practitioner on an inward journey to self-connection and an experience of wholeness. It is her hope and intention to assist others in finding ease and comfort in their bodies, along with peace and happiness in their daily lives.
You can practice with Jayadevi through her public classes, private sessions, special workshops, teacher training and continuing education programs. She currently serves as the Director of Teacher Training for Integral Yoga Institute, NY where it is her honor and privilege to mentor new teachers.
